but you have to ALWAYS measure them against people's changing motivations to make sure that you're avoiding being someones "artist" and you're always their collaborator / friend / etc. these, imo, will be the least financially rewarding, but will make you better and happier in the long run. You also want to create and nurture relationships that are beneficial to your growth as an artist/creator/person. where you are contributing equally (which is laughable, because, by default, the artist is contributing 70% of the work, but still), and where you are valued as a co-author. You want to collaborate with people on projects and ideas that are mutually beneficial. writers and others will come at you to do THEIR thing, but often sell it as "our" thing. I think a lot about collaboration motivation.Īs an artist, there are a lot of people motivated to collaborate with you to get THEIR stories told.
